Bookkeeping & Financial Reporting - Southern Ontario
Your books, handled by a government financial analyst - not a $600-a-month CPA firm.
I'm Jonathan - a financial analyst who reconciles, files HST, and prepares books that stand up to review for a $17M government agency. I do the same for a handful of Southern Ontario small businesses, delivered CPA-ready, at a flat monthly rate. I take on 8-10 clients, on purpose.

The person doing your books
Jonathan Founder & bookkeeper - financial analyst by day
By day I'm a financial analyst at a $17M government agency, where I handle HST filings, reconciliations, audit support, and financial analysis - the kind of work where the numbers have to hold up to review. I bring that same discipline to a short list of Southern Ontario small businesses: clean monthly books, plain-language reports, and a file that's CPA-ready every close.
I cap my client list at 8-10 businesses, on purpose. The short list is the product - your books get an analyst's full attention instead of a queue position.
What lands in your inbox every month
Done by the analyst, not a junior
I do every set of books myself, every month, to the standard I hold for a $17M public-sector agency. No rotating junior, no hand-off.
CPA-ready at every close
Reconciled, HST-clean, tied-out books delivered monthly - so your accountant just files at year-end, and bills you less.
Flat rate, no surprises
One predictable monthly price. No hourly billing, no surprise invoices, no long-term contract.
What you're actually paying for
A typical Southern Ontario CPA firm charges $500-$600+ per month for routine monthly bookkeeping - often with a junior doing the actual work, the partner's name on the invoice, and the partner's overhead in the price. CloudBooks Ontario is different by design.
| Typical CPA firm | CloudBooks Ontario | |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly bookkeeping | $500-$600+ | $200-$450 |
| Who does your books | Often a rotating junior | Jonathan - every month, every client |
| Books delivered | Varies | CPA-ready, every close |
| Clients served | Hundreds | Capped at 8-10 |
| HST, reconciliations, clean close | Standard | Standard |
| Reach a human | Through the firm | Directly |
Same standard of work, none of the firm overhead - no rent, no staff, no junior markup, and no client #347. Your books come CPA-ready every close.

Straight answers
Are you a CPA?
No - and I'm clear about that on purpose. I'm a financial analyst. I handle HST filings, reconciliations, audit support, and financial analysis day to day for a $17M government agency, and I run your books to that same standard. For monthly bookkeeping, that's exactly the skill set you want. For anything that legally requires a CPA, you'll still want your accountant - and I keep your books CPA-ready so that work is faster and their bill is smaller.
Why are you less than a CPA firm if the work is this good?
Price and overhead aren't the same thing. A firm's rate carries rent, staff, software licences, and profit for several people - and routine bookkeeping is often handed to a junior anyway. Mine carries one analyst doing focused work for a short list of clients. Same standard of books, none of the markup.
Will you replace my accountant?
No, and I wouldn't want to. I keep your books clean, reconciled, and current every month; your CPA uses them for tax filing, planning, and anything requiring their credential. Most of the cost at year-end comes from messy books - I hand your accountant a clean, CPA-ready file, which usually makes their bill smaller, not larger.
What if it's not a fit?
Then we don't work together, and that's a fine outcome for both of us. The first step is a free fit call or a free review of your current books - no commitment. With a list capped at ten, I'd rather turn down work than take on a business I can't serve at full standard.
