About CloudBooks Ontario
One analyst, a short list of Southern Ontario businesses, and books done right.
Hi, I'm Jonathan.
I'm the bookkeeper behind CloudBooks Ontario. By day I'm a financial analyst at a $17M government agency, where I handle HST filings, account reconciliations, audit support, and financial analysis - the kind of work where the numbers have to hold up to review. CloudBooks is where I do the same work for a small number of Southern Ontario businesses: clean monthly books, plain-language reports, and a file that's CPA-ready every close. I'm not a CPA, and I'm clear about that on purpose - I do the day-to-day bookkeeping to an analyst's standard and hand your books over so your accountant's year-end is faster and cheaper.
Why I cap at 8-10 clients
It's not a marketing line - it's how the work stays this good. Most bookkeepers take every client who'll pay; I take a handful, so yours never becomes the file that gets rushed at month-end. When the list is full, it's full, and there's a waitlist.
What I stand for
- Clarity over jargon: reports you actually read.
- Consistency: close on time, every month.
- Security: encrypted tools, least-privilege access, your files stay yours.
What I do
- Monthly and full-cycle bookkeeping
- Bank and credit-card reconciliations
- Monthly P&L and Balance Sheet preparation
- HST return preparation and filing
- Payroll coordination (via your software)
- Accounts receivable / payable support
- KPI, cash-flow, and financial analysis
- Catch-up and cleanup bookkeeping
- Year-end files prepared CPA-ready for your accountant
What I don't do (and why that's good for you)
I don't provide audits, review engagements, assurance, or formal tax advice - those require a CPA, and your accountant handles them. I keep your books clean and CPA-ready all year so that work is faster and their bill is smaller when it's time. Think of it as a division of labour: I handle the day-to-day; your CPA handles tax and anything requiring their credential.
